Talks between the Houthi rebel group and Saudi Arabia are believed to be nearing a comprehensive agreement for long-term peace. Notably, the ceasefire that concluded in early October 2022 has been largely respected by both the Houthis and the Saudi-led military coalition. At the same time, regional developments and Houthi attacks against Israel since the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas, risk undermining Yemen’s peace efforts. Internally, Yemen faces economic challenges, including revenue shortages due to trade restrictions, which compound the difficulty of achieving and maintaining peace.
