Liberian President George Weah has conceded the November run-off election to former vice president Joseph Boakai, concluding the 2023 election period on a peaceful note. Boakai has since outlined his near-term policy objectives, which include a review of mining contracts, as well as directing fresh investment into road infrastructure, healthcare, and education. However, Liberia’s fiscal situation, as well as the dominance of the legislature by the former ruling party, will likely inhibit the implementation of this agenda.
